Now more from Dershowitz! If the prosecution had access to this photo before the affidavit which pressed the charges and omitted it, then the prosecutor would be guilty of perjury. This is going to get much more interesting.

I have noticed that people who were posting the earlier pictures of Zimmerman on facebook and claiming that it was "proof" that he was lying about being beaten by Martin are not running out to admit they jumped the gun and were wrong. Instead they seem to be just screaming even louder.
I think that it is very hard for many people to take a stand in public and then admit in public that they were totally off base. So, based on the lack of people admitting they were wrong, I don't think that anything we may learn will change many people's minds.
And when Zimmerman walks from the courtroom a free man, they will probably be likely to demonstrate and throw a few things at the police, etc.Guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early kill people.

People stick to their dreams pretty fiercely. Same mental model that applies to those who get all bent out of shape if someone disagrees with their religious beliefs, I think.
I wonder if there's some sort of anxiety within a person that is satisfied by creating a world model with which they feel comfortable (or even comfortably uncomfortable).
By this, I mean taking the limited perceptions a person gets in life and extrapolating a whole model of how the universe works. (I hope that made sense the way I wrote that.)
Anyway, if this model is jeopardized through new information causing some kind of cognitive dissonance, their beliefs are threatened and therefore they experience some kind of deep and extreme anxiety which makes them lash out, fighting any source of disagreement because it causes them deep anxiety. It's not pride.
Anyway, I wonder if this model exists in peoples' brains and is the source of how AQ, Taliban, Inquisition, Trayvon crusaders, and so on, function.I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

You are absolutely right. This picture, if real, and I believe it is, makes murder charges absolutely ridiculous. Criminally so. Extortion to receive a plea bargain.
The police station videos really looked damning for Zimmerman, but this tells a much clearer story.
For my part, I have always believed there was a struggle. My question is; who initiated it and who created the situation that led to it? Personally, I think Zimmerman, the adult, armed and pursuing a minor, has some real culpability here. Not murder, though, negligent homicide (and probably not provable, at that).
However, there will be violence. Folks wishing to stir the pot will disregard the prosecutor's gross misconduct and will not be swayed by pesky things such as facts. Zimmerman had to have been on his back to have received such injuries. That won't matter to the Sharpton crowd. It does matter to me. Still, I think Zimmerman acted recklessly and started this mess with his Batman/Superman wannabe behavior, though. He started it, and criminal rioters - who will probably care nothing whatsoever about Trayvon Martin or his fate - will finish it.Last edited by Jonathan Randall; 04-20-2012 at 18:34.

I have been reading comments after news articles and posts on facebook.
It seems that those that used to say that there was no indication in the photo of an injury (thus 'proving' that Zimmerman lied) are now saying that from what they can see he was not really hurt all that much... so he was not really in fear for his life. They are in effect saying that unless he had something that shows up on an x-ray as a fracture, he murdered Martin.
Of course, having to wait until you are actually injured that bad is probably a good way to die. It is like saying that you would have to wait for the other guy to put a bullet in you before you shot and killed him. The facts seem to point that he was on his back and getting his head pounded into the ground by Martin and in that situation you can reasonably expect more such damage which could lead to death. But that is not what the Sharpton crowd will say. This has a large impact on how self defense responsibilities and laws will be crafted in the future.Guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early kill people.

So much for the racist police conspiracy.
As to the damage, that is sufficient to demonstrate a life-threatening confrontation took place. Personally, I have always felt that the situation of the actual fight and Zimmerman's pursuing of the kid were separate issues. In other words, Zimmerman may have ended up in a life-threatening situation, but his reckless actions likely put him there. The "these *******s always get away" comment tells me Zimmerman felt Martin needed to be chased and apprehended. Were I Martin, I may very well have felt my own life was threatened. Ultimate responsibility falls to Zimmerman based upon age, armed status, and initiation of contact.
However, to turn this into a murder - no, an execution by Zimmerman of a helpless Martin - has always been a stretch (aside from the reports the first couple of days when we all thought this was what happened). It is now ridiculous AND CRIMINAL, imho, to maintain this position. This action by the prosecutor sets up the environment for grave anger at the eventual failure of the charges. Dershowitz, always the lawyer, parsed his words and said "may" in regards to perjury. Ultimately, I think we are going to have an even worse situation than with Nifong and the Duke case. Here, it appears that prior to filing charges, there was physical evidence exonerating Zimmerman of murder.

Score one for Zimmerman:

Personally, I take this statement as being unequivocally in Zimmerman's favour. Disarming, and removes the element of malice from this case. I believe him.

I can't help but think of this case when I read about Ted Nugent and the Secret Service.
Let me get this straight.... Nugent talks about going into battle in November and cutting off the heads of the enemy and he is visited by the Secret Service because they do not take it as an obvious metaphor but a credible threat against the president.
The New Black Panther Party circulates a 'Wanted Dead or Alive" poster and the response by the Justice Department is.......?Guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early kill people.

If the following article is correct, then Zimmerman's story that he was confronted by Martin instead of vice versa will probably be believed by a jury.

Not trying to derail the topic, but I found this recent local story interesting, as it sort of ties in the "what if he didn't shoot the kid, how bad could it be?": Story Here
In this case, no shots fired, but this time, the 17 year old did cause enough head damage, from just a physical altercation, that manslaughter charges are being filed.MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WJBK) -- Police say 17-year-old Sean Bozich got into an argument at a home with 39-year-old Michael Martin. That led to a fist fight.
Martin, investigators say, was hit hard enough to fall and slam his head into a car bumper.
"This altercation that these individuals got into was on a Saturday night the 14th, and after our victim [got] up, our deputies did respond and checked him out, and he said nothing happened, didn't want to report anything. So, we went about our business and he functioned for actually two more days," said Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.
After Martin hit his head, we're told he was able to walk around for a couple days, but on Monday he complained of a headache. He went to the hospital, but we're told he refused medical attention after a few hours and ended up coming back home.
After he left the hospital Monday night, Martin was found unresponsive the next day.
"This young kid probably never thinking it would get to this level," Wickersham said. "The blows that were delivered and struck we're believing, and the information we're getting from the medical examiner, was a direct correlation to his death."
Bozich is facing manslaughter charges that could mean 15 years behind bars if convicted.
As Martin had wished, his body will be cremated and within a few weeks we're told his friends will be having a memorial service at a nearby park because he loved the outdoors so much.
"Michael was a good guy. I mean, he would do anything for anybody. He had his issues, but he was generally a good guy," one person told us.The unforgivable crime is soft hitting. Do not hit at all if it can be avoided; but never hit softly. - Theodore Roosevelt

Just getting started. The dems would probably not like to have it as an issue during an election year, but they'll still use it to spin up the black vote (Obama is not really exciting them any more) and use it as an excuse for more gun control.
They're gonna be real surprised when Zimmerman get acquitted.
Meanwhile, the savages are not only wanting to kill Zimmerman now that he is out on bond, but also the Judge that released him.

I read some of the tweets. Since when has advocating murder and inciting violence been protected First Amendment Speech?
This guy went to prison for doing so:

These people need to be charged. If we permit this lawlessness to continue, we will have a breakdown in our society (beyond where it already is).

It's such easy evidence to gather. Why aren't these people being charged? Pathetic.

It is a clear, in your face violation. There is a double standard in effect here - right wing talk show host suggests killing judges and is jailed, the ones (tweeters) making these threats against Zimmerman and the judge in the case here are "victims of society", in too many people's views. Dershowitz to the rescue again with his debunking of "The Abuse Excuse". Don't always agree with that guy but he's a genius. A principled genius.
However, we cannot allow this rampant lawlessness to continue without dooming our civilization.

The only way to stop the mob mentallity is for the authorities to prosecute according to the law those persons who are making the death threats. We are a nation of laws and need to enforce them equally.

Zimmerman responded "OK"!?!?!??!?! Wow, serious corruption in the media. Filtering that out is truly criminal. F'ing reporters.

This was a surprise Erik? I've known about this for a while. Time to expand your news horizons a bit.
Now for another related item that the media is trying hard not to report, retaliation attacks. Here's one that actually made it to the news, but there are many more.
