The Trayvon Martin case is a national disaster. The case needs to be tried in a Court of Law and whatever the evidence finds, Justice Not Revenge should prevail.

Since much talk is about young black men being murdered, here are some articles that should be read. The social structure of all families has been destroyed since the 1960's. What is going on with the murder rate, suicide rate, drug abuse, etc. is all directly caused by a loss of the family structure, among all races. The black population has been hardest hit, even black preachers are shouting to get this message out. This is NOT a white vs. black vs. brown vs. red problem. It is a human problem. Kids need a mom and a dad. Society NEEDS a Mom and a Dad working their butts off to raise the next generation.

Yes, 2nd degree murder. Absent political pressure, I believe the charges would have been manslaughter - negligence leading to the death of Martin.

BTW, the New Black Panther Party has a "Wanted, Dead or Alive" poster on Zimmerman. I cannot believe that is lawful. I would love to see them be held accountable for this.

2nd degree murder is BS. It's a tactic to get him to plead down to manslaughter. Based on what we know, there is enough doubt as to the circumstances that would justify a murder charge and that doubt could mean a hung jury or acquittal. So going for the plea is a quick and cheap way to settle the case. If they do go to trial and it doesn't come out with a guilty conviction, the city will burn. They know it and they cannot afford to take the chance.

On top of all that, the prosecutor is saying that public opinion played no role in her decision. I didn't see the video, just read the article, so I don't know if she said that last with a straight face or not.

BTW, even Trayvon Martin's mother believes this is an accident: a situation that spun out of control. She does hold Zimmerman responsible for creating the situation, but she doesn't buy the idea that he was out to kill her son on that night.

Well, the prosecutor can dangle a plea bargain of manslaughter without any time charged and threaten to put Zimmerman in with the rest of the inmates until trial if he refuses.

Liberal law professor Alan Dershowitz rips the prosecutor for charging 2nd degree murder. It is irresponsible and unethical to overcharge in order to get a plea according to Mr. Dershowitz (and I hope to any law professor in this country). According to the professor, there is nothing in the affidavit to suggest even basic probable cause for murder charges. I agree.

That is only relevant if we were only dealing with the law, instead of what the mob wants.

Well this nails it. They will NEVER convict Zimmerman of 2nd degree murder (assuming he get a fair trial) and if he stays tough and doesn't plea to a lesser charge, he'll walk.
