Massacre at Jewish School in France
My first thought is terrorism, but we'll have to wait for more information:

This will be interesting to watch unfold, but I would be surprised if it's not terrorism.

That's horrible. Poor families.
I'd bet even money that it's gang/criminal related vs. terrorist, though. We'll see.I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

Looks like it could be a muslim militant because soldiers and jews were targeted. On the other hand, it could be a European white supremacist because the soldiers shot weren't white. The last time there was a mass killing, it turned out to be the later.
Whoever their motivation, they need to have a bullet put in their brain. I happen to think that killing soldiers is not terrorism, but walking into a school and killing kids is a really twisted act.Guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early kill people.

The First Domino is something that came to my mind, as it did for some observers following the Norwegian Nutter shooting kids on the island. A twisted loony sets out to trigger a Hate War, by setting off a string of bombs that target certain sections of the community. This play was written by a man who had been injured in a nail bomb attack on a Gay bar in London. The perpetrator of the crime (David Copeland), turned out to be a loner, not directly affiliated with any particular group (other than the ones running around in his head). From Wiki;
Copeland maintained he had worked alone and had not discussed his plans with anyone. During police interviews, he admitted holding neo-Nazi views, and talked of his desire to spread fear and trigger a race war. He told police, "My main intent was to spread fear, resentment and hatred throughout this country, it was to cause a racial war." He said: "If you've read The Turner Diaries, you know the year 2000 there'll be the uprising and all that, racial violence on the streets. My aim was political. It was to cause a racial war in this country. There'd be a backlash from the ethnic minorities, then all the white people will go out and vote BNP."David Noble

The first victim had been selling his motorbike online;
They probably googled him and it came up with his homepage Ikillsoldiersandchildren.co.frStaff Sgt. Ibn-Ziaten had put his motorcycle for sale in a classified ad on the website Leboncoin.fr.
The ad identified the seller as a member of the military.
Mr. Guéant said police scrutinized all 575 potential buyers who had looked at the ad. They noticed that one Internet Protocol (IP) address belonged to the mother of the suspect, who was already known to police and intelligence services.David Noble

Breaking news!
French police have a suspect they are attempting to apprehend. Turns out that he's a Jihadist that escaped from an Afghan prison.

If it turns out to be another Muslim (as it seems to be indicated at this time), then the perp was targeting those in uniform and what that represents, not because they were black, Muslim, or whatever. I doubt the perp stopped these guys and asked them what religion they practiced.

that's true, could have had nothing to do with the soldier's ethnicity but with the uniform they were wearing. Sounds like it might have confused the French police at first though because as Don said there was some suspicion it was a white supremacist which wasn't too far fetched given French politics.

Is this just me, or is this story not getting the attention it deserves? Al-Quaeda is supposed to be on its way out, yet it conducts an operation in Europe itself, killing both innocent children and French soldiers.

I think the guy needs to be interrogated and identity confirmed. I remember NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN explaining how California had sunk in the 1989 earthquake (I lived a few miles from the epicenter). Obviously, CA did not sink. Also, recall that everybody thought the sociopath in Norway was an AQ terrorist but he turned out not to be.
Let's let the dust settle before we form any conclusions other than that we hope France doesn't have a "cruel and unusual punishment" clause.I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.
