Question about Tai Chi Certification
There's a new school in town that teaches Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates and Zumba. Each style has a different instructor. All teachers claim to be certified. My question is what type of certification exists for Tai Chi and is it worth anything? I may consider taking the class as it actually fits my schedule.

It depends really. Certified by whom & for what?
I mean I can certify you to teach Taiji as well. Would it mean much? We both know the answer to that.
What matters is can the teacher explain & then demonstrate "hands on" the essential actions (up to 8 depends on the type of taiji). Can the teacher demonstrate "hands on" martial application of it. Can the teacher demonstrate "hands on" push hands.
Or is this somebody looking to become one with the universe & teaching "tai cheeeeeeeese" as opposed to "taiji"?
If you can get me a website or the like, I'll be glad to look it over & get back to you.Message: Due to the ongoing Recession, God has decided the light at the end of the tunnel will be shut off due to power costs. That is all.

Hello,
You can begin by checking out the lineage of the teacher, is he or she adopted into the family art? Different lineage holders in different systems have their own take on the levels of skill required to teach TaiJi as a complete art., including form, applications, energy work and dantien usage, fixed push and freestyle, weapons. certification may be obtained in a level or category but this would not make a complete teacher.
