Lead Singer Shootout
Here we go, the prima donnas, the front men, the guys who annoy the lead guitarists. But seriously some are great musicians themselves.....as always feel free to add in your own picks and point out anyone I overlooked and post videos.
The first Dio video is reserved for Robert.Unleashing my inner bodyguard!

Tough choices, all of them are terrific. Picked RJD, Robert Plant, Ian Gillian and Paul Rodgers but could have picked all of them.

I've been looking around for some better clips. Isn't YouTube becoming just the most incredible resource!! So many live performances that I could never have gone to.. all uploaded for our viewing pleasure. GNR did a lot of touring in 92-93 and so many of those concerts were recorded for TV broadcast. Now, that's not to say that they were all that good as performances... but they probably match up to most Real performances of any of the greatest bands. That's taking into account that a lot of the "best" gigs were only recorded in the minds of the people who attended them. Most of those concerts are remembered fondly for the event status, through possibly chemically altered states, seen through rose-tinted spectacles of nostalgia. I know a lot of the concerts that I saw would probably not look so good now.
Anyhow, here's a version of You Could Be Mine, which seems to have all the right elements of performance, showmanship and talent. From Oklahoma 92.
