Zombie Drug? Causeway Cannibal Apparently on Designer Drug
Okay, this is disturbing - even more so than most stories we used to hear about PCP. Naked man eats face off another on Florida causeway. Talk about a bad trip! After reading the article, I cannot see that the police responding had any choice other than to fire on the man.
Anyone familiar with "bath salts", a designer drug, that is apparently a mixture of mephedrone, MDPV, and methylone? It is not LSD.
So is this a new thing or has stuff been going on like this, under the public radar, for some time?
Scary stuff:

What I want to know is who was the first to figure out that it gave you an experience like PCP? I can imagine people being told about the effects and trying it, but who did it the first time? What kind of person looks at bath salts and thinks, "I wonder what will happen if I snort this? Let's find out!"
Guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early kill people.

This bath salt stuff has been around for a while, and Louisiana and other states have already outlawed them. They apparently act more like cocaine, but with the psychosis normally associated with PCP. When it was being abused around here and legally sold, you didn't hear about the crazy violence stuff, but you sure heard about them vapor locking and assuming room temperature all over the place.

Thanks. I didn't know it was close to cocaine in some of its effects. I do remember the PCP epidemic of the 1970's. Not sure if it was real or hyped then, as I was very young.
Sometimes, I think the Malaysians have the right idea about what to do with drug traffickers.

Yeah, the PCP use in the 70's was outrageous. Bad stuff and it was everywhere. Yes, the problems were everything you heard and then some.
Not sure if killing traffickers is the answer since the biggest trafficker is the health care system and the US government. Just look at the incredible abuse of prescription drugs. Pain meds, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotics, etc, etc and we've got a population that is pretty well hooked on the "good stuff". As far as trafficking in the illegal drugs, well not all are created equal. Marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug and cocaine is a Schedule 2 drug? Really? That's so incredibly retarded it baffles the mind... but I digress (on a rant now). It is clear that some drugs are far more dangerous than others and traffickers should accordingly receive different treatment depending on the type of drug being trafficked.
At least we're not seeing a Krokodil use here in this country. That stuff is truly evil.Robert M. Carver

We had a bad problem with bath salts until they outlawed it. We will see a pack show up here and there until the supply finally dries up. Never seen anyone eat someone's face, but I have seen plenty tripping out and strapped down to hospital beds. We had several deaths associated with it.
FYI, it's not even really "bath salts." So stick to Mr. Bubble or Calgon if you want to add something to your bath.
The chemicals people put in their bodies never ceases to amaze me.Jiu-Jitsu - like chess, except you get to choke people.

True.
I do believe that for such atrocious drugs as PCP, and now, "bath salts" - where the very act of taking it endangers those around the person under the influence - severe consequences need to result. It is in these cases that I think the death penalty needs to be considered. Whoever supplied this moron, who chewed somebody's face off, is a great candidate for the gallows, imho.
Yes, the biggest drug pusher - on the planet - is the U.S. Government. I wonder how many potential geniuses have had their futures damaged - or destroyed - by ritalin and other drugs forced upon children by the school system?
Also, I do think financial corruption is at the root of the continued blanket prohibition of marijuana. There is simply too much money to be made transporting it and laundering the resultant cash. Bootleggers - and corrupt politicians -loved Prohibition. The same sorts love the current Drug War.
