Hot Night!
I had an interesting night. As I was investigating a shooting, a call came in of a fire near where a location my partner were going to check out. As we got close to our destination were able to see that it was a working fire. So we diverted to make sure all residents were out and safe.
When we got there, we realized that it was an abandoned house. Right next it though, was another residence. So I ran to it in attempt to evacuate any residents. Fortunately, the house was already vacated. As I'm at the house I'm seeing the vinyl siding just melting off the house. Man, the heat was intense. The air was just popping around me.
I gotta say firefighters are crazy!

I think they're a match short of a full matchbook.

That is quite a fire.
Any possibility the "abandoned" fire could have been caused by druggies using it to shoot up? For a short time, the apartment downstairs where I live (I live in a semi-rural area) was broken into and used by drug users to shoot up. Freaked me out, hearing noises downstairs. Little candles were everywhere, one even burned out on the tile floor. The owners came and secured it, flooded the area with light and alerted the authorities, and the addicts didn't return.
With so many foreclosures, I bet a lot of empty houses are not.
In any case, glad you and your partner are okay, and thanks for your service in seeing to the safety of the people in the neighborhood.
