That is very cool. Sort of a reversed crucifix. Kind of remminds of something that can happen out of a Dela Riva guard setup.
In 10th Planet nogi there is something called Puppetmaster that is works like this. I play some Rubberguard when I am feel limber. But I am not as supple as I was 5 or 6 years ago. Now it is most a position I used to break someone down to take away the striking gap.

I want to know who this guy is. That was masterful. His background is not usual, IMHO.

Love it. Almost looks like something from a pro-wrestling match.

Innovation in action don't you think? Isn't this the goal of marital systems to achieve the ability to adapt depending on the situation at the moment?

There it goes again, those "marital" arts! I tell you, they are the deadliest of all.

Judo is starting to learn and share with BJJ....methinks. Until of course they change the rules again. Does anyone think that, as it stands today (as of 2012), Brazillian Jujutsu is more Judo that Kodokan Judo itself? That is to say, I have been mulling over BJJ rules for a few months, just out of curiosity. I have found that what is true in IBJJF rules and other group rules is pretty much what Judo used to be in terms of freedom. The point system is different, of course, but overall it seems there is something closer to what Judo was in their rules today. Then again maybe I am way off track.
Any opinion on this?Russ Ebert

Guys,
This video simply demonstrates using the feet and legs as another pair of arms and legs. In the 1960's and 70's these types of moves were trained by many judoka who favored Ne-Waza as opposed to Tachi-Waza. I trained often to use my legs to trap my opponent in Jugoku-Jime, complete with turns and rolls, from the front and back. That was 40 years and 100 lbs ago.
The fact that Judoka do not train in such moves today to the extent they use to is a reflection of the crappy rules, IMHO.

I'd be interested in opinions about the rule changes over the past few decades, both positive and negative. For example, I thought the ban on morote seoi nage in the youth divisions (when I was a kid) was a good thing. It was too easy for us to screw up that throw and spike the other guy's head into the mat. And I had mixed feelings about banning double leg throws. I'd like them to be included, but I also remember the local wrestlers who cross-trained in judo (again, back n the 80's when I was a kid) relying solely on wrestling technique to score throws.
Since I don't practice judo anymore, I'm not up on all the rule changes and their effects. But since Mekugi brought it up, I am pretty curious. Any thoughts from the pure judoka here?
