Favorite weapons

This is just a simple survey to see what everybodies favorite chinese martial arts weapon is.

Mine is the dao (preferably twin dao).

Gunpowder! Exellent point, and one that I completely overlook! Ah, well, I guess I will have to stick to the friendlier and prettier dao. (what I imagine dao is about ready to do to us...)

Richard, I've always been told the most difficult weapon to learn was the three section staff. Would you agree or disagree and why? I vaguely remember hearing some tale about how the idea of the three section came into being, but probably just some fancified legend that made a good story. Any insight to this weapon would be appreciated.

I agree that the San Jie Gun, the three section staff, can be quite difficult to learn. However, I feel that the Jie Bian, steel whip, is much more difficult to learn, simply because, I feel, it is more dangerous to learn. Where a simple mistake with the san jie gun may break a bone, the same mistake with the jie bian may cripple or even kill. I have studied with both, and this is my simple observation. What are yours?

Since my training has been predominantly japanese and bagua the only Chinese art I practice, my chinese weapons play is limited to the bagua deer hook swords (sun moon, deer horn or mandarin duck knives)...

There doesn't seem to be many folks practicing with these precursors to the batlith...I only know one form and it doesn't seem to follow general bagua principles at all, oh well.

i really like swinging the nunchakus. granted, they probably are not the most lethal of weapons, but...don't count them out! i've been practicing a lot with wooden nunchakus and i'm becoming quite good. when they swing, i love it how they become graceful and powerful at the same time. they are great for building wrist strength. i don't know. there's just something about them i fell in love with. maybe it had something to do with the fact that they're fairly easy to conceal and legal in most states, but maybe not.
my second favorite weapon is the long-staff. i've been learning some nice practical strikes with the staff. you guys should too.

nunchaku and sai, though both are Japanese. But if I had to choose Chinese, either the 3 section staff because it is cool looking or twin hook sword.

Hmmm favorite weapon...well taking out modern weapons I would want something for each range (short and long)spear and double broadsword.
I do 3 sectional...I think rope dart is harder...put spearheads on the 3 sectional.

My favourite weapon is the Taiji Jian.......not just because I am a total sword feind...but also in the way the sword is handled and used, the change of grip, the manner in which cuts are made, it is light and elegant, movements swift and precise......lovely

I like all weapons...Like the gunpowder comment, how about HOT TEA?or chopsticks?
I got a "Mulan" fan...silk with the extended fabric, fluttery edges for christmas, I haven't really seen or practiced any forms with it..but I can make a pretty large POP opening it up...
I like the whip chain and it does bite, but I have a piece of foam on the spear end right now for safety...I like to walk around with it tied on like a belt, then pull it off for use...
3 sectional staff=the weapon that can hit you in the head and shin at the same time...from experience!
I think Pudao/Kwan Do may be my next official forms weapon-not often used by women...but I am big...and the blade can be pretty loud(always a plus at KARATE based tournaments where they are always waiting for your KIA!)

does somebody have information about the nine-sectional chain whip ?
i'm new with this weapon, so i could need your tips.

my BIG tip for chain whip. Put some type of protective covering on the "spear" tip. My teacher has a small bottle on his practice one, I have a piece of flexible foam. I have hit myself in the nose and teeth enough to appreciate this.
otherwise...be patient and practice a lot is about all i can say. I am getting pretty accurate shooting off my foot, odd because I am not so good off arm wraps!?

I really like the Chinese two handed sword. You don't see it a lot but it is pretty wicked.

Also saw a really cool form with double daggers a long time ago. Wish I had that one on tape.
