BJJ saves the day :)
A local BJJer Habby Heske restrained a crazy guy who supposedly wanted to hijack a flight to Bali.

Very Cool!
In this photo Habby is the guy on the left...

It's odd that the cops were not waiting for the crazy guy at the airport.
On a flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas I saw a drunk get loud with a stewardess. He kept smoking in the bathroom. He yelled at her when she told him to stop it. After a while he calmed down.
When we arrived at LAX they had three BIG cops waiting for him at the door of the plane. They handcuffed him without incident before he even got off the plane.
I was ready to joojitsoo him if necessary!

*sigh* It has nothing to do with free speech. If you are violent, hostile on a plane or other commuter vehicle, it is a felony. It has to do with the safety of those around you...not your underpaid freedoms.

Whatever happened to letting two-year old threads die?

from experience when i start up new threads the moderators usually say something like, "use the search engine."

I imagine that when you hear "use the search engine", it's because you've asked a question that could easily be answered by checking past posts, not just because you'd like to reanimate a thread that's been dead for years.

It is still alive and kicking. However, it does not extend to abusing others. Very similar to my right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins.

Homework would imply that he's searching for information. I don't see any evidence of that. All I see is him dredging up old threads and offering his opinion.

Well, it IS a discussion board. He's several steps beyond the dopes who just post a new thread with a tired topic, even if I personally am not inerested in a rehash.

There is no rule against reanimating an old thread. Sometimes new members, who are unfamiliar with the forum, will open a thread not knowing that the thread starter and other participants have disappeared off the map. (eg. banned, account closed, stopped posting) The other extreme is the poor soul who has the misfortune of having started the umpteenth thread on Dillman Karate and Chi Balls. People make mistakes -- whether they're newcomers, regulars, or moderators. It's no big thing, really.

People don't get banned on a whim -- they've usually conversed with moderators publicly and privately.

It's admirable to stick up for what you see as an underdog but sometimes, an egg-suckin' cur is just an egg-suckin' cur. Patting him on the back for dubious accomplishments (such as being able to dig up old topics) doesn't do much to raise the level of discussion.

Plus Mr. Modesto, while it is a discussion board, it isn't a discussion board on our moderating skills nor is it related to this topic. Any issues you may have with us do via PM or better yet take it up with the Webmaster.
