Ong Bak
This movie came out in China about a year ago. I have it on VCD but its coming to the cinemas here.
Cool fights scenes and great chase scenes.
BTW if your in or near Boston and want to get a free viewing let me know. The ad agency putting on the premier is giving out free tickets.
You would need a coupon that will be available in Mondays Boston Globe and then bring it to our school to get your ticket. Movie shows Thursday night 7pm.
Nice bit of advertisement is that all the tickets to this preview will have our school logo, website and phone # on it.
And it was FREE.

Its a good movie. I have it on VCD also...I will have to upgrade it to DVD when it gets released.

Isn't this set in Thailand with Thai boxing? Was it released in China first?
If it's the movie I'm thinking of, it was quite a thrill. I'd like to see more like that.
Easier to understand the characters than in kung fu movies. I really enjoyed this one.

You don't go for the storyline. You watch it for the fight sequence. The storyline is the same old 70's political correct rubbish where everyone around him got smacked black and blue and yet he refused to fight the bad guys. The bag guys keep getting the best break. Until something snapped! BAMP!

My copy is Chinese VCD it can be played in Cantonese or Mandarin but without seeting its in Thai.
He is using some real Mae Mai Muay Thai techniques. it was too funny cause they even called out the names of the techniques.

Yeah the movie was slightly different than the video.
The movie cut out clips of the drug dealing sister but put in a couple of extra exchanges between bad guys.
The parts they cut out leave a small piece if a sub story out and make a couple scene confusing.
There isa scene were they go to the thiefs house. There is a girl there dying. The guy calls her out by name, yet we havent seen her before. Who is she? How does he know her? She ahndles him an envelope. What was it?
Next scene he tells this girl "everybody dies".
The girl was her sister who was selling drugs to pay for her college. Her drug dealing boss overdosed her when she wanted out. the envelope was money for her sisters college.
Was still a great flick.
It will definately go up on your list of favorites.

hold up just got finished watching a hardcore fighting movie called born to fight from the makers of ong bak. If you liked Ong Bak trust me you will like born to fight talk about stunts in Ong Bak you have not seen anything yet. Ong Bak 2 will be on dvd in thailand in mid January but the name have changed they have the website up the new name is tom yum goong.

I love ong bak! Best part is when he jumps through all those levels holding his knees near the end of the film in the 'temple'.
CLASSIC!Photographers are violent people too- first they frame you, shoot you, then hang you.

You guys haven't seen this one yet? It is pure martial mayhem poetry on the screen. Suddenly you're transported back to an era when martial arts movies had testes, the days when Jackie did his kick-*** movies with no wires, no punches pulled.
BTW, i heard a rumour (though i'm sure it's false) that when they show a hit twice, it means the stuntman was hospitalized; if they show it three times, it means he died (!). i doubt it of course.
but when they repeat a scene, it's not like a Van Damme "double hit", in this movie, you are grateful they re-show a scene because you have a feeling of "WTF was that?!!?!"... the scene is so crazy that you WANT to see it again to verify that in fact you saw what you thought you saw.
Muy Thai has been altered a bit to make it more showy. But it is brutal, vicious and .... i have to say it... beautiful.
If you're like me, you'll be going around the office giving flying elbows to your colleagues weeks after seeing this one.
This came out over a year ago though didn't it?

Yep, though I still like the first big fight scene when he faces those three people in a row. I'm still waiting to buy it. I'd rather not pay $20.99 when I know I can get it for $15. Originally Posted by shevbo

As much as i love this film and will be its champion, the ending was a bit of a cop-out. After over an hour of real action with no holds barred and no tricks, we are treated to a lot of wire work. The kicks he was doing in the final fight scene COULD NOT have been done without wires.
Why they chose to cop out this way is beyond me. Tony Jaa is an incredible performer, martial artist and athlete. I would rather watch the incredible showcase of his skills against BEAR, TAKASHI (my god! TAKASHI! i love that crazy jap) and the crazy tatooed 'BREAKING GUY' than a bunch of slow mo ballet kicks on wires....
what were they thinking????
