    Default Meditation?

    Can anyone give me any tips on meditating efficiently?

    I have heard that with your eyes closed, you should count backwards...10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0...9, 8, 7,..etc.
    A guitar usually won't cut your fingers off when you put it back in the case.

    Dr Andrew Weil has an audio records called "Breathing". Excellent place to start.

    As you probably know, the 'meditation' is sort of umbrella term for several activities - if it is correct to use word like activity about meditation - and so you might have to set for yourself an additional question: why are you learning/studying it? Does it belong as integral part to MA you're studying? If so, you'll most likely get meditation info also from your teacher? Do you want to learn to relax, or visualization, or focus? Do you consider that meditation would help your to breath (breathing techniques and meditation can be teached together, or isolated, so...)? Or is there some other reason(s)? All this may affect to what kind of tips, books or instructions you find useful.

    If you are interested in the more esoteric aspects of meditation such as attaining lesser and greater kan and li, the works of Dr. Glenn Morris will be useful for those with open minds. As well as master Mantak Chia's books. Good luck on your path.

    something simple you can do is
    1 inhale-hold it and say 3 three times
    2 exhale
    3 inhale-hold it and say 2 three times
    repeat until you reach zero and you can start higher than three
    i think its useful to do when meditating or doing yoga, stretching etc.
